Brigham Young was ordained an Apostle 14 Feb 1835 under the hands of the Three Witnesses, Oliver Cowdery, David Whitmer and Martin Harris. The Three Witnesses were called by revelation to choose the Twelve Apostles and on 14 Feb 1835 were "blessed by the laying on of the hands of the Presidency." Note: Dean Preston Barton was born 31 March 1930 during the great depression to Owen Henry Barton and Emma Zwahlen. He and his siblings - - Una, Nina, John Owen, Jerald Lee, and Kent H Barton were each born in the same family house in the south part of Ferron, Utah. Dean grew up in Ferron, married his Ferron sweetheart, Arlene Rasmussen. They had four children. Dean served as an officer in the US Air Force, graduated with a doctorate in educational psychology from BYU, worked in education as a teacher, counselor, psychologist for nine years. and worked for publishing companies for thirty years. He served as bishop of the Aptos Ward, Santa Cruz California Stake, from 1990 to 1995. Dean will be buried in the Ferron Cemetery.
